The movie begins with Lee Geum-Ja being released from prison and starting her plan for revenge. She had a group of people that she met while in prison, each with their own skills, and she used them to help her carry out her plan. Throughout the movie, the audience is taken on a journey with Lee Geum-Ja, as she seeks justice for the boy's murder and for the years she spent in thing that sets this movie apart from other revenge films is that Lee Geum-Ja is not a typical revenge-seeking protagonist. She is not a cold-blooded killer, nor is she seeking revenge for her own gain. Lee Geum-Ja is seeking justice for the young boy who was murdered, and she wants the real killer to be brought to justice. She is a sympathetic character, and the audience can't help but root for movie explores themes of revenge, forgiveness, and redemption. It delves into the morality of seeking revenge and whether it is justified. It also explores the idea of forgiveness and whether it is possible to forgive someone who committed a heinous performances in the movie are outstanding. Nam-mi Kang, who plays Lee Geum-Ja, gives a powerful and emotional performance that is both heartbreaking and inspiring.
